The Stakeholders’ Chamber on the SDGs discuss strengthening its role as a government partner in SDG implementation, expansion of its national membership, and establishment of regional chambers, in its 4th Quarter meeting last December 1, 2022.

Since the establishment of the Stakeholders’ Chamber in 2022, it has been continuously strengthening and defining its position in the country’s SDG implementation. During its fourth quarter meeting, the body discussed its Terms of Reference (TOR) which defined the specific roles and responsibilities of the members, as well as the rules and procedures in the conduct of meetings and other activities.

Further, given the need to widen the space for partnerships and civil society action on the SDGs, the Stakeholders’ Chamber also discussed the expansion of its national membership and the establishment of the Regional Stakeholders’ Chambers, with the guidelines presented by the NEDA Secretariat.

With program convergence, policy mainstreaming, awareness-raising, and monitoring and evaluation as the chamber’s strategic objectives, it strongly positions itself as the country’s institutionalized private sector and civil society platform for the SDGs which works closely with the government. With these roles, the chamber serves as a space for organized and evidence-based complementation of programs and projects to leave no one behind and for sustainable development.

With much enthusiasm and determination to carry out the work of the chamber for 2023, specific members volunteered to create an informal group in charge of developing the chamber’s roadmap. This roadmap will guide the members and work hand-in-hand with the TOR and other official documents of the chamber towards the trajectory of the group in the short-term.

The meeting was also the venue for NEDA to share with its stakeholders the status of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and the inclusion of the 2030 Agenda and integrated indicators for every chapter of the PDP.
